Welcome

The Decatur Kennel Club was organized in 1984 to give all dog fanciers a chance to get together for dog-related activities and to promote education about dogs.

The advancement of purebred dogs within the community remains the primary goal of the organization.

Club members represent a wide variety of dog breeds and dog activities. DAKC membership is open to those interested in dogs, dog activities such as conformation shows, obedience, agility trials or fly ball, and community services.

The club was licensed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1993 to hold conformation shows and obedience trials. DAKC currently holds two licensed shows and obedience trials each year. In 2002, the club was licensed by AKC to hold two Agility Trials. In 2003, the club completed the new 6000 sq foot facility on Mill Rd in Decatur.

Regular club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the club facility at 7:00 pm.

Visitors are always welcome!

Please see our Training and Events page for information about training at DAKC and events that the club is holding.
