What is Conformation?
Conformation is the evaluation of a dog compared to its breed standard, including grooming and presentation of the dog to its best advantage in the show ring. The written standards are written by the AKC and the breed parent club and describe the ideal dog.
Training and Competitions
Conformation handling class teaches the presentation of both the dog and the owner needed in the show ring before a judge. The Decatur Kennel club offers classes in handling for conformation and holds two all breed conformation shows annually as a part of The Cotton Cluster. These shows are held in conjunction with the Huntsville Kennel Club in November of each year at the Priceville Celebration Arena.
